Released the Fix Months Earlier

The weakness that Wanna Cry attacked in windows computers was well known by Microsoft which the fix already launched months earlier. Many organizations failed to install the fix and still using the outdated version which no longer supported by Microsoft.

Prevention

here are three simple steps that you can take to make sure attacks like Wanna Cry never infected
your computers

1. Patching

Make sure your devices, either computers, mobile phone, apps or any devices that connected  to
internet are up to date. this is because cyber criminals are constantly looking for new vulnerabilities. When they found, they will try to exploit it using special tools.

2. Backup

In some cases other cyber attack method may infect the up to date systems. So, to overcome this
problem, the best way to protect our data is by doing a regular backup. backup the important
data to somewhere other than on your daily usage computer, mobile devices. You may perform a
backup to other external physical media or cloud based storage.

3. Phishing

Beware of Phishing. although we have the latest update of any software or we performed backup
regularly, we still can't escape from being a victim from an attackers. Bad guys are always
updating and change their method of attack.

Phishing is when the attackers try to trick you by sending an email asking you to open an attachment or clicks a link that contains malicious files. This is one of the famous method to spread a ransom ware, spyware to more computers.

The key to protecting you from this kind of phishing attack is common sense, if an email or message seems suspicious or too good to be true, it is likely an attack.
